You do a lot of hard work. Poles and wires need constant maintenance. Live wire work needs incredible training, staff and quality standards. Running a distribution business is hard. And you do a lot of work making sure your incumbent retailers pay their fair share. At the end of the day, you have billing systems to create the invoices – the challenge then is turning those invoices into cash.
The ‘involce to cash’ cycle here in Australia is very specific;
Create invoices at the NMI level for all NMIs in your patch
Send them to the appropriate retailers for the appropriate period
Process disputes from retailers – and cancel or close them as you need to
Wait for remittances from retailers – and make sure the retailer sends the right cash too!
Since the process is so detailed; you are dealing with huge volumes and huge dollars. Making sure the retailer’s pay the right dollars at the right time ( and knowing what they paid ) is no easy feat.
But it’s imperative you do – since the vast majority of your income is dependent upon it. But for every problem, there’s a solution: and in this case it’s NBM.
